Heads Up Commuters. New 25 Ramp with a Signalized Intersection Opens January 12th

This article has been updated to reflect new information sent by VTA.

VTA has announced that a traffic shift will occur the night of January 12th, at the 101/25 junction. Signal activation will occur in phases on Wednesday, January 14th.

The shift primarily involves moving traffic from the existing Northbound 101 on and off ramps to the new ramp. This is the ramp that was built over the Garlic Shoppe’s previous location.

The new ramp features a signalized intersection where it intersects with Highway 25. Commuters and travelers should allow for extra time if traveling through the area. Signal activation on Wednesday, January 14th, may require temporary lane closures and traffic stops.

The 101/25 Interchange Phase 1 project includes new, wider, longer off-ramps from 101, a 4-lane overpass over 101, bike lanes, and a future connection to Santa Teresa Boulevard (to be completed after this project).
